I'll be participating in a 2-day major cycling event called The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals.

I'll be cycling for two whole days through the scenic landscapes of The Capital Region with thousands of other Riders. All the proceeds will go to Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Sibley Memorial and Suburban Hospitals to support cancer research, treatment, and services. These are leading comprehensive institutions devoted to cancer research and care, and the work they're doing is cutting-edge.

When I say "heartbreaking," here's what I mean: according to the American Cancer Society, 1,660,290 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2013.

The information also shows that cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease, accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. That's why I'm riding.
